So I’ve been going to Free Space for the Canon Creator Lab series since the early summer, and after half a year of phenomenal guest photographers, workshops, and open-invite photographer Shootarounds, the final CCL session of the year was capped by an exhibit and sit-down with photographer, director, and Drake’s visual media man, Theo Skudra.
In turns self-effacing and pragmatic about his prolific body of work, Skudra’s easygoing personality was a good foil to the energy and drive of his visual work on display at Free Space, both in terms of the documentary style behind-the-scenes exhibit of dancers backstage at an Atlanta strip club, and the dynamic two-panel video installation showing everything that goes into a vibrant Drake live show from the ground up.
It was also an excellent way to celebrate the end of the year with a community of photographers I have gotten to know and greatly appreciate this year.
