Hello! I’m Gesila Azorbo, and I am the face behind Lightplay Society.
I am a Toronto-based photographer and moving image storyteller, with a specific interest in portraiture through both photography and cinematography.
A creative photographer who is passionate about candid portraiture, performance, documentary and event photography, I have almost a decade of professional experience working with people across a range of industries, and I would love to work with you.
From artistic portraits to corporate headshots, editorial photography to industry event documentation, my photography has been seen in Toronto Life, Room Magazine, the Globe & Mail, and CBC Arts.
I have an abiding love of music, film, TV and literature - all of which informs my work. My creative projects explore themes related to identity, balance and creativity. As a photographer and a filmmaker I love to shoot creative portraits and profiles of artists in their element, including my first documentary "Indie Womyn", profiling Juno-nominated Toronto artist Alysha Brilla.
My photo- and videojournalism includes covering cultural festivals like Caribana, Afrofest, and the first powwow in downtown Toronto in 2017. I have also worked as a documentary videographer with the City of Toronto, Art Gallery of Ontario, Rainbow Railroad, and Ryerson University.
If you have any questions about shooting with me, please feel free to reach out and start a conversation via the form below, or sign up for my (exceedingly rare) newsletter on the side!
I look forward to talking to you soon.
